"DEER’S BELLOW” VACATION

From the month of September, as long as it rains, the males encounter one another and sound out their cry known as the bellow.
During this special time for all the animals at La Réserve, stag and doe come closer to our accommodations and pretend to ignore our visitors.

This makes the observation of the animals much easier.
Strange ballets, sometimes impressive confrontations or fake combats, the bellow of the deer is an eventful look in the life of La Réserve.

Offer valid from the 1st weekend of September to the last weekend of October.
During this exceptional stay, explore La Réserve during 3 VIP guided safaris to meet our famous “30 cors”. And capture on film (yes, we are nostalgic!) those moments of rare intimacy represented by the bellow of the red deer.

5-Hour Walking Safari

Discover the wildest areas of the reserve.

Accompanied by a naturalist guide, set off on foot to explore preserved, little-used and elevated areas of the Reserve. High above the valleys, in silence and with full respect for natural balances, you may be lucky enough to spot ibex, chamois and other emblematic species of the Reserve. An ideal experience for those who enjoy long walks in the heart of unspoilt wilderness. Lace up your best walking boots and… follow the guide!

2H GUIDED WALKING SAFARI

Intended for the most active and curious and those looking for total immersion in nature. UNIQUE in EUROPE, the walking safari allows you to live an impressive experience at the heart herds made up of bison, wild horses, deer, fallow deer, elk or wild boar. Guided by our experts and wearing your most comfortable shoes (leave your flip-flops and your bathing suit for Saint-Tropez), you will survey the wooded plains and steeper areas for signs of animal presence. You will be able to observe the complex behaviours of the wildlife. No enclosure, no bars. Between you and them, there is only twenty metres of nature and the euphoric feeling of freedom. Live a rare experience of communion with the wild fauna! Change your relationship with the wild by becoming an animal among animals, linked to them in deep mutual respect.

GUIDED CARRIAGE SAFARI

Ideal for a first discovery of the Reserve. The horse-drawn carriage safari allows the youngest of our visitors, the less mobile, or the less “athletic” to enjoy, lulled by the roll of the horse-drawn carriage, the wonders that the wildness can offer. Towed by two robust draft horses, Mulassiers Poitevins or Boulonnais, the carriages take different routes depending on the time and day to follow the movements of wild animals.
Come and discover the life of the European bison, wild horses, elk, stags, hinds or wild boars … and all the species that may greet you among the 800 found on the Monts d’Azur Animal Reserve.

The Reserve is not a zoo and many animal species still remain discreet, especially during periods of high heat !

RED DEER RUT SAFARI

A Breathtaking Spectacle

A guided walking safari for deer enthusiasts, lasting 2.5 hours.
Find yourself in the very heart of a breathtaking rut… accompanied by a guide, to fully experience the courtship displays of the red deer stags and hinds of La Réserve des Monts d’Azur.

This safari is available for a short period only, corresponding to the rutting season, the exact dates of which vary each year.

A wildlife photography course — suitable for all levels — in one of the very few places in France where you can practise close to free-roaming wildlife.
