The need for large herbivores in French and European ecosystems

The first objective is to demonstrate the need for the presence of large wild herbivores in French and European ecosystems. And we were the first to do so, emulating in Holland, Romania, Spain, Croatia, and more recently in Germany (2013).

The spectacular improvement of the natural environment shows, if it were needed, the importance of the presence of many wild animals. They are the only ones able, thanks to their remarkable adaptations to the most difficult conditions, to valorize a meadow or a forest. Better, they enrich it because they can use, unlike domestic ungulates, all available plants, from the poorer grass to the richest legume.

Wildlifeas a driver of sustainable economic activities

The second goal is to use wildlife as a driver of sustainable economic activities.

Species are disappearing at such a rate that questions of the survival of the great European fauna is well and truly asked. In Europe, one in six mammals is threatened with extinction and one in three is declining. The Pyrenees ibex (Capra pyrenaica) died in 2000 in France and Spain!

However, the agricultural abandonment releases everywhere many spaces. Return of the large fauna would represent a very interesting solution for their maintenance and the establishment in these fragile zones of new economic activities, respectful of the environment. The Monts d’Azur Reserve is an example.

Come to live magical moments with animals that are our cultural heritage.

A pilot project for sustainable tourism in Franceecological housing

In fact, the project of the Animal Reservation of the Monts d’Azur is largely based on a simple observation: ecotourism and holidays are not incompatible as long as we develop this new form of responsible and sustainable tourism.

For this, we must encourage people to consider their holidays differently but we must also be able to welcome the first tourists in the best conditions.

This is why our project is one of the pioneers of ecotourism and ethical or ecological travel
